Shelby Brook Stables AMHA/AMHR Miniatures

Shelby Brook Stables

In 2007 we started Shelby Brook Stables when our daughter wanted to start riding in the leadline class at the local horse shows. So we bought a couple of minis, a grey philly and a white stallion, a decked out 8 inch saddle, and a cowgirl outfit with matching leather pink boots. We started attending the local shows and realized that the miniatures were catching on at the shows and more classes were being added to the shows. Thats when we decided to start showing more and lead into raising our own minis. We started purchasing some mares of different color and conformation and ran up on a eye catching Bay Stallion that we purchased from Iona Farm owned by Gordon and Bonnie Harris in Ohio and have been happy with the purchase ever since. We have some mares that you will see that came from Double Diamond Farm in Indiana, All of which have great color and conformation, and I must thank Jana at Double Diamond for her stock. Each year we show at a few more shows and in August of 2010 showed at the Kentucky State Fair and did rather well for our first time there.

Our home away from home

In April of 2010 we built a new 40x60 barn with 5 12x12 stalls, hay storage area, and a 12x12 wash bay. When we are not at work and the weathers pleasent this is where you will catch us, enjoying our horses or getting them ready for a show. Having the miniatures seems to bring your family closer and that makes for lots of good memories. We are hoping this next year that our daughter Shelby will start showing, with a little guidance, and will take an interest and someday learn what it takes to have winning miniatures in the miniature horse industry. Hopefully, with what I have learned from some close friends in the industry, good genetics and conformation, Shelby Brook Stables will start producing top quality show miniatures in the near future to be handed down to our daughter. Our first foals should be on the ground starting March of 2011 so check us out for updates.
